What the official page says
Source: Oklahoma's Lemon Law: Your Rights and Responsibilities (Oklahoma Attorney General brochure) (read 2026-10-18). This is a summary of that page, not the statute. Exact tests, exclusions and deadlines are on the official page and in the statute, and may have changed.
- The brochure says the Lemon Law covers new motor-driven vehicles required to be registered, except vehicles above 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (a recreational vehicle is covered regardless of weight), and that a new vehicle may be a lemon if a warranty-covered defect substantially impairs use and value and is not the result of abuse, neglect or unauthorized modification.
- The brochure says to report the defect directly and in writing to the manufacturer, agent or dealer during the warranty term or within one year of original delivery, whichever is earlier, and to give a reasonable number of attempts to fix it.
- The brochure says there is a presumption of a reasonable number of attempts if the same defect was attempted four or more times during the warranty period or one year after delivery, whichever is earlier, or the vehicle was out of service because of repairs for a total of 30 business days in that period.
- The brochure says that if the manufacturer has an informal dispute resolution procedure that complies with federal law you must try it before the Lemon Law applies, and that if the vehicle cannot be fixed the manufacturer shall accept return and refund the full purchase price (including fees and taxes, excluding interest) less a reasonable use allowance, or replace the vehicle.
- The brochure gives the use-allowance formula as purchase or lease price multiplied by a fraction with 120,000 miles as the denominator and miles attributable to the consumer beyond 15,000 miles as the numerator, and says no state agency has enforcement authority over the Lemon Law.
Numbers the page states
| Item | As stated on the official page |
|---|---|
| Report window | Warranty term or one year after original delivery, whichever is earlier |
| Repair attempts | Four or more for the same defect |
| Days out of service | 30 business days |
| Weight limit | Not above 10,000 pounds GVW (recreational vehicles covered regardless of weight) |
Counting rules differ (calendar days vs. business days, what counts as a repair attempt). Use the repair log tool to organize dates, then confirm how your state counts.
Not covered or not confirmed in this summary
- The brochure shows no date in the text read, and the Oklahoma statute (47 O.S. 563) was not read.

Industry arbitration program summary (not a government source)
BBB National Programs, which runs the BBB AUTO LINE dispute program, publishes a state summary: BBB AUTO LINE: Oklahoma lemon law summary (link checked 2026-10-18). It is published by an industry-linked program, so treat it as a starting point and confirm against the state's own page or statute.
What to do first
- Keep every repair order and receipt. See the records checklist.
- Write down dates and mileage for each repair visit with the repair log tool (nothing is saved or sent).
- Read the federal warranty basics and arbitration pages.
- Consider speaking with a licensed attorney in your state about deadlines. Many have free consultations, but we do not recommend any specific one.
