What the official page says
Source: Wyo. Stat. 40-17-101, Definitions; express warranties; duty to make warranty repairs (Wyoming Legislature, 2026 Wyoming Statutes) (read 2026-10-18). This is a summary of the statute text posted on the official site, not legal advice. The exact wording, exclusions and deadlines are in the statute itself, and may have changed.
- The statute text says "motor vehicle" means every vehicle under 10,000 pounds unladen weight, sold or registered in the state, which is self-propelled except vehicles moved solely by human power.
- The statute text says that if a new motor vehicle does not conform to all applicable express warranties and the consumer reports the nonconformity to the manufacturer, its agent or its authorized dealer within one year following the original delivery, the manufacturer, agent or dealer must make the repairs necessary to conform the vehicle to the warranties, even if the one-year period has expired.
- The statute text says that if the defect still substantially impairs the use and fair market value of the vehicle to the consumer after a reasonable number of attempts, the manufacturer must replace the vehicle with a new or comparable vehicle of the same type and similarly equipped, or accept its return and refund the full purchase price including all collateral charges, less a reasonable allowance for the consumer's use.
- The statute text says a reasonable number of attempts is presumed if, within one year following original delivery, the same nonconformity has been subject to repair more than three times and still exists, or the vehicle is out of service due to repair for a cumulative total of 30 business days, and that these periods are extended while the vehicle could not reasonably be repaired because of war, invasion, act of terror, civil unrest, strike, fire, flood or natural disaster.
- The statute text says the presumption does not apply against a manufacturer unless it received prior direct written notification from or on behalf of the consumer and had a reasonable opportunity to cure the alleged defect, and that the refund/replacement remedy does not apply to a consumer who failed to exhaust the manufacturer's informal dispute settlement procedure if one exists and complies with applicable federal statute and regulation.
- The statute text says it is an affirmative defense that the nonconformity does not substantially impair use and fair market value, or results from abuse, neglect or unauthorized modification, and that a consumer injured by a violation may bring a civil action and may recover reasonable attorney's fees from the manufacturer that issued the express warranty.
- The Wyoming Attorney General's consumer complaints page lists "Lemon Law enforcement" among the matters its Consumer Protection and Antitrust Unit will not examine, and says the Attorney General represents the State of Wyoming and cannot represent you or act as your private attorney.

Counting rules differ (calendar days vs. business days, what counts as a repair attempt). Use the repair log tool to organize dates, then confirm how your state counts.
Not covered or not confirmed in this summary

What to do first
- Keep every repair order and receipt. See the records checklist.
- Write down dates and mileage for each repair visit with the repair log tool (nothing is saved or sent).
- Read the federal warranty basics and arbitration pages.
- Consider speaking with a licensed attorney in your state about deadlines. Many have free consultations, but we do not recommend any specific one.
